8 – The Path of Daggers
8A – Bethal – Perrin sends an emissary to the queen of Ghealdean. Faile is jealous, obviously. A few miles north of town, The come upon dragonsworn, and some others, who turn out to be Morgase Trakand and party. Perrin tells the dragonsworn to warn Masema that he is coming for him. The Take Morgase to their Camp. Elyas Machera finds Perrin in the camp and joins them. Berelain returns with Queen Aliandre who quickly swears allegiance to Perrin. Score! He also hangs some of Masema’s men.
8B – Rand is east of Illian cleaning out the remnants of Sammael’s armys.
8C – Cemeros Battle: On reports of the Seanchan movements towards Illian, Rand gathers Asha’man, the Dragon Legion, Saldeans, and various armies and goes against them. Asha’man do the most fighting. They jump all around using gateways, crushing most of what they come against. Rand had Narishma get Callendor for him, but that is not revealed right away. He lists Narishma and Flynn as the two Asha’man he thinks he can trust. Rand is hit with a crossbow and saved by Bashere. Later, Bashere tells him it is time to end the battle. Rand pulls out Callendor, and crushes the majority of the Seanchan, but also kills many of his own, in a moment of arrogance. He then agrees to retreat.
8D – Rand Returns to Carhien, Min. Cadsuane is rude to him, treats him like a child. Some of the Aes Sedai that kidnapped him beg for forgiveness and Sorilea believes them knowing their shame. They swear to him. After that, Dashiva and his renegade Asha’man attack Rand, then escape.
8E – Abila – Perrin confronts Masema, “The Prophet”. Faile, Maighdan(Morgase), Bain, Chiad and others are taken by the Shaido.
Mat is not mentioned in this book, except that he is in Ebou Dar. Later we find out he has been resting after injuries sustained in the Seanchan Attack.
