5 – The Fires of Heaven:
5A – Rand, Mat, Moarine, Egwene, and company are in Rhuidean. Darkhounds attack Rand and Mat, and Rand learns about the consequences of Balefire. Moraine Swears to obey Rand in an attempt to get closer to him. The shaido break camp and head for the dragon wall, as well as 2 other clans. Rand and his clans follow them out o the Jangai Pass.
5B – Taein – Couladin killed almost the entire town as a message to Rand. Survivors say they killed and took Gai’Shain, which should not be done to those who do not follow Ji’e’Toh. Trollocs attack the encampment.
5C – Selean – Another town destroyed by Couladin.
5D – Eianrod – Rand is found by the Tairen and Carhienin who tell him of the Shaido siege on the city of Carhien. Rand then walks in on naked Aviendha, who travels to Seanchan on instinct. Rand follows her and they do filthy things to each other in an igloo. On the way back, they are confronted by Seanchan, and a spear gets cutoff by the portal, rand keeps the half spear.
5E – The Battle of Carhien – Rand’s Aiel Septs, Tairen/Carhienin VS. Shaido: The Aiel plan for battle. Tairen, Carhienin, and Infantry do not get along. Matt links up with the non-Aiel combatants and uses his tactical knowledge to keep them alive. Rand, Egwene, and Aviendha are using the power to fight from a tower, which is destroyed when Sammael attacks it with lightning. Mat feins Couladin into attacking him by having his men shout to protect the ‘lord Dragon’, it is revealed that he killed Couladin.
Post Battle: Rand is weakened but insists on surprising the Tairen/Carhienin and enter the city. Rand learns of Morgase’s “Death”(She fled Rhavin with Talanvor and others). He is enraged. The next day the maidens are no longer guarding Rand’s door. Moraine comes with Mat and Egwene and leads them to the Carihien docks. Lanfear returns and upon learning that Rand and Aviendha had been together attacks them. It ends when Moraine tackles Lanfear through the twisted redstone doorway, as she had foreseen in Rhuidean. In his greif Rand ran to a small dock building to read Moraine’s letter. She knew what would happen and what she would have to do. And she knew of Asmodeon teaching Rand. Sulin entered and confronted him about holding the maidens out of battle, threatening to break her spears, abandoning honor. Rand agreed to let them fight from now on.
5F – Rand, Mat, Aviendha, Asmodeon, and various aiel skim to Caemlyn to confront Rhavin. Rahvin is ready for him and explodes the wall to ambush them, killing Mat, Aviendha, and Asmodeon. Rand confronts Rahvin in the real world and the dream world. Nynaeve is there confronting Moghedion, who she traps with an A’dam. Nynaeve distracts Rahvin, and in Rand’s grief, he hits Rahvin with such a huge amount of balefire that it undoes the deaths of his party. The Fires of Heaven ends with them still in Caemlyn, and Lord Bashere introducing himself to Rand, as well as pledging his army to Rand’s cause. Rand also announces the pardon for men who can channel.
